Day 1: Gary helps get the cars ready

If they are Policing the roads of Warwickshire it is important that the Roads Policing Unit officers set an example to other road users. Morning and evening, before taking the cars out, Police officers check their vehicles, making sure they are clean, roadworthy and fit for the purpose. Many use the POWER mnemonic to remind them of what to check.

P - Is there a full tank of PETROL ?
O - Is there enough OIL in the engine ?
W - Is there enough water in the radiator and the windscreen washer bottle ?
E - Are all the Electrics working, eg Lights, horns, police radio etc
R - Rubber. It is important that the tyres are in good condition and correctly inflated.

Gary says it is a good idea for all road users to do this regularly too if not each day.

All of the constables and Sergeants on the Roads Policing Unit are advanced drivers and have to be specially trained to drive Police cars safely at very high speeds.

Gary has been helping the driving school to wash their Jaguar Patrol car and is seen here with Mr Paul Owen one of the advanced driving instructors.
