Work experience - A new concept
Work experience within Warwickshire Police is changing. From the new school year in September 2005 we will be running the all new and exciting:
Police - the experience
The purpose of this new concept is to give a more realistic view of the police and the opportunities that are on offer.
The new concept aims to allow more young people than before to experience what the police has to offer.
Police - The Experience will run twice in a school year over 2 days.
There are 43 secondary and private schools in Warwickshire and they will be allowed to send one pupil on each of the two day experiences.
The programme for the 2 days includes interactive workshops with departments such as Communications Centre, Firearms, Dog Handlers, Traffic and Officer Safety Training. There will also be inputs from Training, Personnel and Recruiting.
Selection to attend these days will be by completion of an application form that has been sent to the schools.
Pupils will receive a Certificate at the end of the 2 days that can be included in their school record of achievement.
If you are interested in attending this new experience please speak to your careers advisor or Connexions representative within your school.
Conventional work experience in the departments of IT and Media and PR will still be available for those interested in these lines of work and arrangements will have to be made with the school careers advisor.
